Lexington City Council has voted in favor of a new policy for renaming city streets.
The new policy lays out the procedure for how City Council can rename streets in the future.
Property-owners interested in renaming their street must pay a $400 application fee.
They also have to present a petition with signatures of at least 75 percent of property owners on the street who support the name change.
Council would then have to decide whether to change the street name.
